Use corrosion-resistant fasteners that match the cap material, and seal with butyl tape or compatible sealant. On metal roofs, add foam closures under ridge caps to block wind-driven rain and pests. Align vents away from prevailing weather, avoid over-driving screws, and allow for thermal movement. Always follow the manufacturer’s nailing or screw pattern.
