MeasurePro Cabinet Door & Drawer Hardware Installation Template Kit Made in The USA Review
What it is and why I reached for it
Cabinet hardware is one of those small details that can make a kitchen facelift feel finished—or painfully amateur—depending on how consistently you place it. I picked up the MeasurePro template kit to streamline a multi-room project: 30-plus knobs and pulls on a mix of doors and drawers. I wanted something faster and more reliable than measuring from scratch each time, but simpler (and cheaper) than the bulkier adjustable jig systems with metal bushings.
This kit is straightforward: two smoky-transparent plastic templates—one geared toward doors, one for drawers—plus a 3/16-inch high-speed drill bit. The templates have edge guides and a grid of pre-set hole patterns for common center-to-center (CTC) handle sizes from 2-1/2 in (64 mm) to 6-1/4 in (160 mm). It’s made in the USA and designed for repeated use.
Build quality and design
The templates are sturdier than the throwaway plastic you sometimes see in packaging. They’re rigid enough to register consistently against an edge and flat enough to keep from rocking on raised-panel profiles, yet thin enough that I could clearly see my pencil marks through the smoky plastic. The transparency is a real help when aligning to a center mark or an existing line—less guesswork, fewer do-overs.
There are no metal drill bushings, which is important to call out. The holes are cleanly molded and accurately placed, but they’re still plastic. In practice, that means I treated the template as a marking and positioning guide rather than something to drill through aggressively. More on technique below.
The layout is logical: linear scales, clearly labeled hole positions for common CTC distances, and crisp reference edges. The range of supported handle sizes up to 160 mm covers most standard pulls in North American kitchens. If you’re working with extra-wide European bar pulls (192 mm, 224 mm and beyond), this template won’t reach those spans—see the limitations section if that’s on your list.
Setup and workflow
My workflow with the MeasurePro template was quick and repeatable:
1) Establish reference edges. For doors, I referenced off the opening edge and top for uppers (bottom for lowers) to put knobs/pulls on a consistent setback. For drawers, I referenced from the top edge of the drawer front.
2) Mark a centerline for drawers. Because drawer pull centers need to land on the drawer’s midpoint, I lightly marked the vertical center of each drawer front. The template’s transparency made it easy to align to that mark while still referencing the edge.
3) Use the template to mark holes. Rather than drilling through the template holes, I used them to make precise pencil dots, then lightly dimpled the marks with an awl. On painted fronts, a sharp center punch is even better to prevent the bit from skating.
4) Drill with a backer. I drilled a small pilot from the front, then opened to 3/16 in with the included bit while pressing a scrap backer board tight to the inside face. That completely eliminated blowout and kept the finish clean.
5) Test fit and repeat. First handle went on as a test. After that, it was autopilot: register, mark, drill, install.
Because the templates are mirrored by design, left and right doors are handled by flipping the template. Once I had my target offset dialed in, the consistency from piece to piece was excellent.
Accuracy and results
Accuracy is the reason to buy a template, and this one hits that mark. Holes aligned perfectly across cabinet runs, and the pulls sat level without fussing. The edge guides are square and positive, so I never felt like I was “floating” the template into position. The scales matched my tape measure, and the common CTC labels are exactly where you expect them to be.
One nuance: the molded holes are slightly tighter than the 3/16 in bit included. That’s another reason I prefer marking through the template and drilling freehand; it preserves the template’s lifespan and avoids shaving plastic. If you insist on drilling through a template, you’ll want a jig with metal bushings—this kit isn’t built for that abuse.
Limits and quirks
Fixed hole patterns: The template covers 64, 76, 90, 96, 102, 115, 128, and 160 mm CTC. That’s a generous spread and wider than many plastic jigs, but it’s still a finite set. If your pulls are a nonstandard spacing outside those marks (or unusually wide), you’ll need an adjustable jig or a custom layout approach.
No bushings: As noted, there are no metal inserts. Treat it as a guide for positioning and marking, not a drill-through fixture. Used that way, it stays accurate and doesn’t deform.
Drawer height vs. pull span: On very shallow drawers, a wide pull might encroach near the drawer’s top/bottom rails. The template helps you place the holes, but you still need to confirm your pull’s footprint and screw length before committing.
Plastic durability: The plastic is tough enough for shop use, but like any template, it’ll chip if you drop it on a corner. I keep mine stored flat in a drawer and it has held up fine through multiple jobs.
Who it’s for
DIYers looking for an affordable, repeatable way to install common knobs and pulls without learning a fully adjustable jig.
Pros who want a quick, reliable marking tool for standard CTC pulls in the 64–160 mm range.
Anyone installing a lot of single-hole knobs; the door template makes fast work of consistent setbacks.
If you routinely install extra-wide bar pulls or need millimeter-perfect flexibility across unusual hardware, a metal, fully adjustable jig with bushings will serve you better.
Tips for best results
Mark, don’t drill, through the template. Use the template to place pencil dots, then dimple with a center punch or awl before drilling.
Use a backer board. Press a scrap board tight to the back side to prevent blowout when the bit exits.
Confirm your CTC. Measure the pull between screw holes; don’t rely solely on the model name. Metric-to-inch conversions can surprise you.
Set a standard setback. Decide your horizontal/vertical offsets for doors and drawers before you start and stick to them across the room.
Test on a scrap or a sacrificial board. One practice run pays for itself.
Flip to mirror. For left/right doors or different orientations, simply flip the template to keep the reference edges consistent.
How it compares
Compared to improvised measuring (tape measure, square, painter’s tape), the MeasurePro template is far faster and more consistent. Versus adjustable aluminum jigs with sliding rules and bushings, this kit is simpler and less expensive, but also less flexible and not designed for drill-through use. In the middle ground—where most kitchen pull work lives—its fixed hole patterns cover the sizes I encounter most often, and the transparent body makes alignment easier than opaque metal jigs.
Bottom line
The MeasurePro template does what a good template should: it speeds up layout, eliminates guesswork, and delivers consistent results. The materials are appropriate for repeated use if you treat it as a marking guide, and the range of supported handle sizes will cover the majority of kitchen and bath projects. Its biggest limitation is the fixed pattern—great for common CTCs, not suitable for very wide or oddball hardware—and the absence of bushings means you shouldn’t expect to drill directly through it.
Recommendation: I recommend this template kit for DIYers and pros who primarily install standard knobs and mid-width pulls and want a reliable, budget-friendly way to get professional-looking results. If your projects routinely involve extra-wide pulls or you insist on drilling through a jig, step up to an adjustable, bushed model. For everything else, this kit is a fast, accurate, made-in-USA solution that earns a spot in the cabinet hardware drawer.
