A weekend of compounding an oxidized pickup is a good way to judge a rotary. The GEVEELIFE polisher showed up as a no-nonsense, corded workhorse that trades frills for usable power and simple controls.

Setup, Build, and Ergonomics

Out of the bag, the polisher feels solid without being unwieldy. At about 4.5 pounds, it’s manageable for horizontal panels and door work, and light enough that I didn’t dread longer passes. You get both a D-handle and a side handle; I preferred the D-handle for better leverage on curved panels, but the side handle is helpful when you’re working vertically and want a neutral wrist angle. The housing and gear head feel tight and aligned—no rattly tolerances or wobbly spindle play.

The lock-on trigger is well executed. I could feather it for a moment while spreading compound, then click into a steady speed without hand fatigue. The dial offers seven detents from 1 to 7, corresponding to roughly 1000–3500 RPM. The detents are positive enough to change on the fly with a thumb.

One practical note: the cord is on the short side. I kept an extension cord handy and draped the cable over my shoulder to keep it off the paint.
