Milwaukee 6" TORX® 10IN1 Key Driver

When I first got my hands on the Milwaukee 6" TORX® 10IN1 Key Driver, I was immediately struck by its robust design and thoughtful features. Milwaukee has a reputation for crafting durable, jobsite-ready tools, and this key driver certainly lives up to that standard in many respects. However, as with any tool, it has its strengths and potential areas for improvement.

One of the standout features of this key driver is its bit storage system. Milwaukee has cleverly incorporated a revolver style bit storage mechanism into the handle, which allows for easy access and selection of bits. This design is far superior to the traditional folding keys, which can be cumbersome and time-consuming to use. The handle comfortably holds 12 bits, and while this is generally sufficient, it does mean that one bit needs to be stored in the hex shank. This isn't a dealbreaker, but it does mean that you need to be mindful of which bit you choose to store there, as the magnet holding it in place isn't the strongest.

Speaking of the magnet, this brings me to one of the less impressive aspects of the tool. The magnetic bit retention system, while a great idea in theory, could use some improvement. I found that the bits, particularly the one stored in the hex shank, had a tendency to fall out during use. This was particularly frustrating when working at height or in tight spaces where retrieving a dropped bit was a hassle. A stronger magnet would go a long way in ensuring that bits stay in place during use.

On a more positive note, the 3-1/2" power groove bits are a fantastic addition. These bits are compatible with power tools, which adds a layer of versatility to the key driver. The chrome plating on the bits is another thoughtful touch, providing rust protection and reducing wear from environmental factors. This is particularly important for those of us who work in varied conditions and need tools that can stand up to the elements.

Another feature worth mentioning is the wire stripper and loop maker, which can handle up to 10ga wire. This adds another layer of functionality to the tool, making it a more versatile addition to your toolkit. The wrench-ready hex shanks also provide additional leverage, which can be particularly useful when dealing with stubborn screws.

In terms of ergonomics, the key driver is comfortable to hold and use, even for extended periods. The handle is well-designed, allowing for a firm grip without causing discomfort. The extended reach design is another plus, making it easier to access screws in deeper or more awkward spots.

However, it's not all perfect. One concern I had was the durability of the plastic handle. While it hasn't given me any issues so far, I do wonder how it will hold up over time, especially with heavy use. The limited lifetime warranty does provide some peace of mind in this regard, but it's something to keep an eye on.

Overall, the Milwaukee 6" TORX® 10IN1 Key Driver is a solid tool with a lot to offer. Its design is thoughtful and user-friendly, and it brings a lot of functionality to the table. The bit storage system, power groove bits, and additional features like the wire stripper and loop maker make it a versatile and useful tool for a variety of tasks.

That said, the magnetic bit retention system could use some improvement, and the durability of the plastic handle is something to watch. Despite these minor drawbacks, I would still recommend this key driver, particularly for those who need a versatile, jobsite-ready tool. Its strengths far outweigh its weaknesses, making it a valuable addition to any toolkit.
