Why I tried these tubular LEDs

I needed a compact, clear-glass bulb that would fit narrow sconces and a glass-front cabinet, while keeping a warm, inviting tone. Standard A19 LEDs were too bulbous and a bit glary for those fixtures. The Grensk tubular LEDs promised a 2700K warm white, dimmable operation, and a 360-degree beam in a slim, 4.96-inch T10 form factor with an E26 base. I put a four-pack to work across a hallway sconce pair, a curio cabinet, and a small desk lamp to see how they handled real-world use.

Design and build

These are classic “LED filament” style bulbs: clear glass, visible filaments, and a medium E26 base. The tubular T10 shape (long, narrow profile) is the draw here—it disappears nicely behind narrow shades and gives that intentional “bar/restaurant” vibe in exposed fixtures. At just under 5 inches tall, they fit most sconces and small pendants I tried, but it’s worth checking clearance if your shades are tight.

The glass envelopes were clean and defect-free, and all four bulbs matched physically. Internally, the filaments are neatly spaced, which contributes to an even, 360° distribution. Because the glass is clear and there’s no diffuser, the light source is visible—attractive in decorative fixtures, but potentially glary if you’re looking straight at the bulb. In exposed eye-level applications, I preferred them on a dimmer or behind lightly frosted glass.

Grensk lists ETL, FCC, and RoHS certifications, which is reassuring, and there’s overload/overvoltage protection built in. These aren’t things you “see” in use, but they matter for safety and electrical noise.

Light quality and brightness

  • Color temperature: Advertised at 2700K, these look convincingly warm. Side-by-side with a modern “warm white” LED and a classic soft-white incandescent, the tone is closer to the incandescent: warm without drifting orange. If your home leans 3000K or 3500K, these will read warmer.
  • Color rendering: CRI is stated as >80. In practice, wood tones, skin, and food looked natural, though not as rich as they do under high-CRI (>90) lamps. For living rooms, bedrooms, and accent lighting, it’s perfectly pleasant. For color-critical tasks or art display, you’ll probably want a higher CRI option.
  • Brightness: At 600 lumens per bulb, output lands in the “bright 40W” to “modest 60W” equivalent range. A single bulb is ample for a small table lamp or display cabinet; pairs in wall sconces did a great job lighting a hallway; a multi-bulb chandelier would be plenty bright. If you’re replacing a true 60W incandescent one-for-one and expecting the same punch, note that traditional 60W soft whites are around 800 lumens—these are a notch below.

The beam really is omnidirectional. In my shades, light spread evenly with no dark top cap or pronounced shadowing that you sometimes get with plastic-bodied LEDs. It’s one of the best aspects of this filament style.

One small note: across my four-pack, three bulbs matched color very closely; one was a hair cooler. It was only noticeable when all four were adjacent. If you’re mixing with existing bulbs, keep them from the same batch and fixture whenever possible for uniformity.

Dimming and flicker

I tested the bulbs with:
- Lutron Diva LED+ (wall dimmer)
- Lutron Caseta (smart dimmer with neutral)
- A basic triac dimmer of unknown vintage

On the Lutron LED-rated dimmers, dimming was smooth and quiet from high down to a very low glow, with no perceptible steps or dropouts. I didn’t hear any buzz at the bulb or switch. Using a phone camera in slow-motion, I didn’t pick up objectionable flicker at normal levels; at the last few percent on the older triac dimmer, there was a faint shimmer. That’s common with non-LED-optimized dimmers and was resolved by setting a low-end trim on the Caseta and swapping the old triac for the Diva LED+.

Important caveat: these do not “dim-to-warm” the way incandescent filaments do. Color temperature stayed essentially the same as I dimmed. If you love that amber glow at low levels, you’ll need a dim-to-warm product; if you want consistent color across the dim range, these deliver exactly that.

Efficiency and heat

At a claimed 100 lumens per watt, each bulb draws roughly 6 watts to produce 600 lumens. Compared with a 40–60W incandescent in the same decorative sockets, it’s a big energy and heat reduction. The glass envelope stayed warm to the touch after an hour, not hot—an important safety factor in tight shades, vintage fixtures, or near delicate trim. There’s no UV or IR output, which is friendly for fabrics and paper.

As always, I wouldn’t assume suitability for fully enclosed fixtures unless the manufacturer explicitly states it. These ran fine in the curio cabinet and a glass sconce with top ventilation. In fully sealed globes, any LED’s thermal design can be tested; err on the side of giving them some air.

Fit and compatibility notes

  • Base: E26 (standard medium) fits most US household sockets. If you need candelabra (E12), these won’t fit.
  • Size: The tube is slim and 4.96 inches tall. Check that the bulb doesn’t bottom out against a shade or protrude past a diffuser.
  • Voltage: 110–130V AC. Not for low-voltage landscape or DC fixtures.
  • Dimmers: Pair with modern, LED-rated dimmers (Lutron, Leviton, Eaton). If you experience low-end flicker or sudden cut-off, set the minimum trim or switch to a compatible model.

Everyday use

In the hallway sconces, two bulbs at 50–60% dim were warm, even, and glare-free through fabric shades. In the curio cabinet, a single bulb made glassware pop with no stripy shadows. On the desk lamp, the 360° spread produced a broader pool of light than a directional A19, and the lower heat was a relief—no more toasting the lamp harp.

I liked them most in decorative and accent roles: bar shelves, bedside lamps, and entryway fixtures where the bulb is visible or sits close to the shade. The clear-glass, filament look brings a bit of vintage style without the amber color cast of “antique” bulbs, and the dimming range lets you tune ambiance easily. For task-heavy spots (kitchen counters, craft tables), 600 lumens per bulb may be light if you’re using only one fixture; consider multiples or higher-output lamps there.

What could be better

  • Color consistency: My set had a minor CCT variance on one bulb. Not a dealbreaker, but I’d like tighter binning for multi-bulb installations.
  • CRI: >80 is fine for daily use. A >90 option would make wood and skin tones really sing and justify a premium tier in the lineup.
  • Glare in exposed fixtures: Not a flaw of this model so much as the clear-glass filament category. If your fixture places the bulb in direct view, plan on dimming or choosing a frosted variant to soften the point sources.
  • “60W replacement” expectations: At 600 lumens, these are bright but not equal to a classic 60W incandescent. If you’re expecting 800-lumen output, you’ll want a different spec.

Safety, noise, and interference

No audible buzz in any of my fixtures, and no noticeable RF interference with nearby radios or a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi device I keep on the bench. The FCC and ETL listings are reassuring. As with all glass bulbs, handle with care—these feel sturdy but are still, ultimately, glass.

Value

You’re getting an efficient, dimmable, decorative bulb with proper certifications and a useful 360° beam. In settings where a tubular profile solves a fit or aesthetic problem, the value improves further—there just aren’t as many good T10 options as there are A19s. The four-pack makes sense: most decorative fixtures come in pairs or multiples, and matching from the same lot helps with color uniformity.

Bottom line

The Grensk tubular LEDs hit a sweet spot for warm, even, and compact decorative lighting. They run cool, dim smoothly on modern controls, and their 360° beam solves the “top shadow” that plagues many LED bulbs in sconces and cabinets. Watch for minor color variation in multi-bulb arrays, and set expectations around brightness: 600 lumens is ample for accent and general ambient use, a bit shy of a true 60W incandescent replacement.

Recommendation: I recommend these if you need a warm, dimmable, tubular E26 bulb for sconces, cabinets, pendants, or exposed decorative fixtures. They’re efficient, easy to live with, and the filament look blends nicely in both vintage and modern settings. If your priority is maximum brightness from a single bulb or high-CRI rendering for art and photography, look for a higher-lumen or >90 CRI alternative; otherwise, these are a reliable, attractive choice.
