Asencia AN-03661 40 Watt Equivalent A19 General Purpose LED Light Bulb, 6-Pack, Non-Dimmable, 6 Pack, Daylight Review
Why I tried these
I’ve been slowly standardizing lighting at home, and I wanted a budget-friendly, daylight option for spots where clarity matters—hallways, a bathroom sconce, a laundry nook, and a multi-bulb kitchen fixture. The Asencia daylight A19 bulbs looked like a straightforward fit: non-dimmable, 5000K color temperature, 450 lumens per bulb, and a 6-pack to cover multiple fixtures. After a few months of use across different rooms, here’s how they’ve done.
What you’re getting
- A19 shape, E26 base, standard fit
- Non-dimmable
- 5000K daylight color temperature
- 450 lumens (40W incandescent equivalent)
- 6 watts power draw per bulb
- Rated life of 13.7 years at 3 hours/day
- Claimed annual energy cost around $0.72 (at $0.11/kWh)
This is a simple, no-frills bulb intended for general-purpose daylight lighting in non-dimming fixtures.
Setup and fit
Installation was exactly as it should be with A19 bulbs—screw in and go. The bulb profile is a classic A19 with a diffuse, frosted dome that works well in open fixtures and behind standard shades. They seated cleanly in everything I tried:
- A wall sconce with a shallow shade
- A hallway ceiling fixture
- A bathroom vanity with two bulbs
- A five-light kitchen island fixture
I didn’t encounter any buzzing, and the bulbs came on instantly with no warm-up. There was no visible flicker, even in the hallway where the light is switched on and off frequently throughout the day.
One note: these are non-dimmable. Don’t use them on a dimmer switch, even at full brightness—you can shorten their life or introduce flicker. If your fixture is on a dimmer, pick a dimmable alternative.
Light quality
At 5000K, these produce a clean, neutral daylight tone. In practice, they’re crisp without being harsh. The frosted envelope helps diffuse the light enough that they’re comfortable in open fixtures; I didn’t get the pinpoint glare you sometimes see with cheaper LEDs.
Color rendition is perfectly acceptable for general use—labels, clothing colors, and food look true enough that I never felt compelled to swap them out. Skin tones in the bathroom mirror are on the cool side, as you’d expect at 5000K, but not oddly blue or washed out. If you want warm, cozy atmosphere in a living room or bedroom, this is not the right color temperature; for task zones, hallways, and utility spaces, it works very well.
Brightness and where they make sense
These are 450-lumen bulbs—true 40W incandescent replacements. That’s plenty for small rooms and task lights, and excellent in multi-bulb fixtures where five bulbs together produce a very even, comfortable level of illumination without turning the space into a lightbox.
Here’s how they felt in my spaces:
- Bathroom vanity (two bulbs): Bright enough for grooming without the intensity of a 60W equivalent. I preferred the softer feel here compared to the “stadium lighting” effect I get from 800-lumen bulbs in the same fixture.
- Hallway and laundry: Ideal. Clear visibility and a clean look, no shadows or color weirdness.
- Kitchen island (five bulbs): A nice, even blanket of light across the surface. If I were lighting the whole kitchen with one fixture, I’d pick brighter bulbs, but for a multi-bulb setup these hit a sweet spot.
If you’re trying to light a large room with a single-bulb ceiling fixture, you’ll likely want a 60W equivalent (around 800 lumens). For everything else—especially multi-bulb or localized fixtures—these are very workable.
Energy use and heat
At 6 watts per bulb, power draw is low. Compared to a 40W incandescent, you’re saving roughly 34 watts every time the light is on. At 3 hours per day, that’s about 30 kWh saved per bulb per year, or roughly $3–$4 in annual savings at typical electricity rates. Multiply that by a multi-bulb fixture, and the practical benefit adds up quickly.
Heat output is minimal. Even after extended runtime, the bulbs are warm but never too hot to touch, which is both safer and easier on fixtures and shades over the long term.
Reliability and lifespan
The rated life is 13.7 years at 3 hours per day. That’s a standard claim for this class of LED, and it’s impossible to validate in a short review window. What I can say: over several months of daily use across four fixtures—one with frequent on/off cycles—I’ve had no failures, no dimming drift, and no audible noise. Light output remains consistent bulb to bulb.
To give them a harder test, I put one in a frequently cycled hallway fixture (dozens of short on/off events per day). Some LEDs don’t love rapid cycling, but this one has been stable so far.
Two cautionary notes:
- Enclosed fixtures: The packaging I received didn’t specify suitability for fully enclosed fixtures. Many budget LEDs aren’t rated for those environments because of heat buildup. If your fixture is fully enclosed, check the manufacturer guidance before committing.
- Dimmers: Again, these are non-dimmable. Using them on a dimmer—even at full—can cause issues and shorten lifespan.
Packaging and build
The 6-pack arrived in simple cardboard with a molded insert. It’s on the minimal side. All bulbs were intact with no cosmetic flaws, but I’d prefer slightly more robust padding for shipments that aren’t bundled with other items. The build itself looks fine: clean seams, uniform frosting, and standard-weight glass/plastic envelope. Base threads were smooth and seated properly in every socket I tried.
Value
The appeal here is straightforward: a low-cost, no-drama 6-pack for utilitarian daylight lighting. The cost per bulb is modest, and the energy savings are real. If you need to outfit several fixtures at once or want consistent light across a few rooms, a single pack covers a lot of ground without feeling like a compromise.
Because the output is on the gentler side, I liked these more in multi-bulb fixtures and small rooms than in large, single-bulb spaces. That’s not a knock; it’s just matching the bulb to the job. The main value proposition is consistency, low energy use, and a neutral daylight tone, all at a price that makes it easy to keep a couple spares in the drawer.
What could be better
- Not dimmable: By design, but it limits flexibility. If you want to tune brightness for mood, you’ll need a different bulb.
- Documentation: The box I received didn’t make suitability for enclosed fixtures clear. A bolder callout would help prevent misuse.
- Brightness ceiling: 450 lumens is intentional, but keep your expectations in check if you’re trying to replace 60W equivalents one-for-one.
None of these are deal-breakers, but they’re worth considering before you buy a whole house worth.
Final take
I like these Asencia bulbs for what they are: practical, daylight A19s that are easy on energy use and easy to live with. The light is clean and consistent, the fit is universal, and they behave exactly as a general-purpose bulb should—no buzz, no flicker, instant on. They shine in multi-bulb fixtures and smaller rooms where 450 lumens per bulb creates a comfortable, usable level of light without glare.
Recommendation: I recommend them if you need an affordable, non-dimmable, daylight solution for hallways, bathrooms, kitchens with multi-bulb fixtures, and utility spaces. If you’re lighting a large room with a single socket, prefer a warmer ambience, or require dimming, choose a higher-lumen or dimmable alternative instead.
