LiTHELi Cordless Lawn Mower 13 Inch, U20 Handy+ 20V Electric Lawn Mowers for Garden, Yard and Farm, 5 Heights Adjustment, Light Weight,4.0Ah Portable Battery Included Review

3.8 out of 5

I wanted a mower I could carry with one hand. That was the bar for the LiTHELi 13-inch cordless mower, and on that front it delivers. It’s tiny, light, and easy to live with—provided your yard and expectations match its size and power.

Setup and first impressions

Assembly took me a few minutes with no tools beyond what’s on the mower. The deck is compact and mostly plastic, the handle folds on quick-release knobs, and there’s a small 8-gallon rear bag that slides on. The whole unit is lighter than some string trimmers I own, which makes it unintimidating and easy to stash on a shelf.

LiTHELi includes a 20V 4.0Ah battery and a USB‑C charging cable, but no wall brick. I used a 30W USB‑C charger from a tablet; from empty to full took a bit under three hours. Slower phone chargers will extend that time. If you’re expecting an old-school docking charger with LED status, this isn’t it—the battery’s built-in meter gives you a four-bar readout.

Performance and cut quality

This is a 13-inch deck with a 3400 RPM brushless motor and five cutting heights from 1 to 2.5 inches. On a small lawn, the narrow deck is a plus around beds and tight corners. In open space, you’ll make more passes than with a 20-inch mower, so budget more time.

On maintained turf that isn’t overly thick, the little LiTHELi cuts cleanly and evenly. The center of the blade leaves a tidy stripe, and the edges pull in clippings well enough that I wasn’t chasing stragglers. The motor has a built-in overload protection: push too fast into thick or tall grass—especially at the lowest height—and it will shut itself off rather than stall. That’s not a fault; it’s a guardrail. The trick is to raise the deck and take two passes when grass is overgrown: first pass at 2.5 inches, second pass down a notch if you like a shorter finish. Doing that let me power through a patch that had gotten away from me without any shutoffs.

If you tend to mow at 3 inches or higher to protect cool-season lawns in midsummer, the 2.5-inch max height is a limitation. It didn’t scalp my fescue, but I wouldn’t take it lower than 2 inches unless you’re on a warm-season lawn or cutting frequently.

Battery life and runtime

Runtime varies with grass density and height. On my roughly 900 square feet of mixed fescue and bluegrass, cutting at 2–2.5 inches, I finished on a single charge with one bar left. In heavier sections and with more bagging stops, the battery drops faster. Expect around 20–30 minutes in light-to-moderate conditions; closer to 15 minutes if you’re tackling taller growth or pushing the lowest height. That aligns with the mower’s intended use: small lawns or quick touch-ups.

If you routinely cut more than about 1,000–1,300 square feet, a second battery is worth it. The battery is part of LiTHELi’s 20V platform and can power other tools, so it’s easy to build a rotation if you’re already in the ecosystem.

Ergonomics, maneuverability, and noise

The LiTHELi’s superpower is maneuverability. At around two dozen pounds, it’s easy to push, pivot, and even carry. On slopes or uneven ground, the light weight is a relief compared with heavy self-propelled units. There’s no self-propel, but you don’t need it here.

Noise is modest—more whir than roar. I didn’t feel obligated to wear ear protection for a quick mow (though it’s never a bad idea), and neighbors won’t object to an evening cut. Vibration is minimal, and the handle height and angle adjust quickly. The single-point height adjustment lever is a smart touch; one lever moves all four wheels, and it clicks into place positively.

Bagging and clippings management

There’s no mulching plug included and no side discharge. The mower is meant to be used with the rear bag attached. The 8-gallon bag fills quickly, especially when the grass is lush, so be prepared for frequent stops. That’s not a bad tradeoff for the weight savings, but it’s the one place I felt the “small tool, small capacity” compromise most.

You can technically run it without the bag for a quick rough cut, but clippings collect behind the rear flap and in the discharge chute. If you remove the bag, plan on extra cleanup. For most users, bagging is the way to go.

Maintenance, blades, and durability

Out of the box, the blade is thin but sharp and suitable for the mower’s power. After several cuts, I touched it up with a file and saw a noticeable improvement in cut quality. If you’re seeing torn tips or needing multiple passes, sharpening helps. I recommend inspecting the blade every few mows and keeping it sharp; a dull blade taxes the small motor and drains the battery faster.

Replacement blades are not as ubiquitous as the big-brand 20–22-inch options. Measure your blade and center hole before ordering, and plan ahead rather than waiting until it’s urgent. I eventually found a compatible replacement, but it took more digging than usual. If you’re not comfortable sharpening, consider buying a spare blade early.

The deck and wheels are mostly plastic. That keeps weight down, but it’s not a stick-and-stone bruiser. Clear the lawn of twigs and rocks to protect the blade and chute, and avoid wet grass, which clogs the small discharge path and can trigger overload shutoffs.

A small safety quirk to watch

One thing I noticed early: the power cable that runs up the handle can get pinched where the handle folds. If you fold and unfold the handle frequently, make sure the cable is routed on the outside of the hinge path and has some slack. I added a small Velcro strap to keep it out of the pinch point, and that solved it. It’s a simple fix, but worth doing before you accidentally nick the insulation.

Storage and transport

Storage is painless. The handle folds down with two knobs, and the carry handle on the deck makes lifting easy. The small footprint fits on a deep shelf, and I’ve even stored it upright (bag removed) without fuel or oil concerns to worry about. For apartment garages or sheds where every square foot counts, this is a real advantage.

Who it’s for

  • Small, well-kept lawns up to around 1,300 square feet
  • Users who prioritize light weight, easy storage, and low noise
  • Older homeowners or anyone with mobility limitations who struggle with heavier mowers
  • Folks already using LiTHELi 20V tools who want a shared battery system

Who should look elsewhere: anyone with thick, weedy, or overgrown turf who prefers a single fast pass at low height; lawns that demand 3–3.5-inch summer cuts; or yards much larger than a small suburban front-and-back combined. A 40V/60V, wider-deck mower with mulching capability will be a better fit in those scenarios.

Tips for best results

  • Start higher (2.5 inches) if the lawn is tall; drop a notch for a second pass if needed.
  • Keep the blade sharp; it improves cut quality and extends runtime.
  • Mow dry. Wet clippings clog the chute and strain the motor.
  • Manage the cable routing at the handle to avoid pinching it.
  • Consider a second 4.0Ah battery if you’re near the mower’s upper coverage limit.
  • Empty the bag often; airflow is your friend on a small mower.

Recommendation

I recommend the LiTHELi 13-inch cordless mower for small, well-maintained lawns where light weight, maneuverability, and simple storage matter more than raw power or capacity. It’s easy to push, quiet, and genuinely convenient. Its limitations are clear—narrow deck, modest runtime, a low maximum height, and reliance on bagging—but within those bounds it cuts cleanly and is pleasant to use.

If your yard fits the target profile and you’re willing to adjust your mowing approach (two passes when overgrown, keep the blade sharp, mind the cable routing), this little mower is a practical, budget-friendly solution. If you need to tame thick, tall turf in one go or want a higher cut and mulching capability, step up to a wider, higher-voltage model.

Creative

Meadow Mosaic (Pattern Mowing)

Use the 13" deck and five height settings to create geometric patterns (stripes, chevrons, concentric rings) on small lawns up to ~1,300 sq ft. Alternate between 1" and 2.5" settings for contrast, plan lines with rope or spray chalk, and use the lightweight, folding handle for tight turns and storage. Great for seasonal yard refreshes and photo-friendly front lawns.

Lawn Stencil Art

Cut or buy large stencils (initials, seasonal icons, logos), lay them on the turf and carefully mow around or over them to create negative-space designs. The mower's 13" width gives fine control for detail work; low noise and battery power make it easy to create art early morning or late evening without disturbing neighbors. Use contrasting heights to make the design pop.

Pressed Grass Resin Art

Collect fresh clippings in the 8-gallon bag, air-dry them, then arrange and embed in clear epoxy to make coasters, wall panels, or jewelry with preserved green textures. The mower's efficient collection saves time gathering material; drying and sealing preserves scent and color for rustic botanical pieces.

Living Rug Frames

Mow a low 'rug' area (1"–1.5") framed by taller grass (2.5") around garden beds or patios to create living outdoor rugs and pathways. Use the adjustable handle and lightweight frame to maneuver around beds and use the high-performance motor for clean edges. Works well for small yard landscaping installations and photoshoots.

Herb Patch Sculpting

Use the mower to shape low-profile herb borders and pathways inside a kitchen-garden layout. Keep culinary herbs at specific heights for both aesthetics and harvesting ease; the five height settings let you maintain uniformity and the quiet motor preserves delicate plants and pollinators nearby.
