HOME VISION Heavy Duty Tilt TV Wall Mount Bracket for 48-120 Inch Flat/Curved TVs, 200Lbs Capacity, Fits 16/18/24 Inch Studs, Max VESA 800x600mm for LED OLED LCD Review
Mounting an ultra-large display is equal parts logistics and nerve. The Home Vision 9801 mount took most of the anxiety out of the process for me, and it’s become the bracket I reach for when a big, heavy panel needs a clean, tilt-only install.
What it is and who it’s for
This is a heavy-duty, low-profile tilting wall mount designed for very large flat or curved TVs. It supports VESA patterns up to 800x600 mm and is rated to 200 lb. It spans 16, 18, or 24-inch studs and offers a tilt range of 10° down and 5° up, with a small horizontal level adjustment built in. If you’re installing a 75 to 100+ inch screen and only need tilt (not swivel or extension), this mount hits the sweet spot of rigidity, simplicity, and cost.
Build quality and hardware
The first thing I noticed is the steel thickness and the overall stiffness of the wall plate and rails. There’s no flex or rattle when you pick up the assembly; the welds are clean and the black finish is even and scratch-resistant. The rail interface on the wall plate is wide and smooth, which makes lateral centering of the TV easy once the plate is up.
Hardware is comprehensive: lag bolts and washers for wood studs, a generous assortment of TV-side screws (various lengths and thread pitches), and spacers for curved backs or recessed VESA patterns. The safety latches are released via pull cords that hang below the TV—handy during installation and removal—and the ends of the wall plate incorporate anti-fall features that keep the rails from slipping off while you’re aligning things. It’s the small touches that add up to a stress-free hang.
Installation experience
I mounted a 98-inch panel (about 140 lb) on a wall with 24-inch on-center studs. Spanning those wider studs is where many mounts fall down; the 9801’s wall plate handled it without a fuss, and the slot geometry left me enough lateral wiggle room to fine-tune placement before tightening.
A few tips from my install:
- Find and mark studs carefully, and pre-drill pilot holes sized for the included lag bolts. With a mount this stout, the limiting factor is the wall—hit the studs dead-on.
- Dry-fit the plate and double-check level before driving the lags home. The mount has ±1° of post-install horizontal fine-tuning, which saved me from chasing perfection with a level when one lag hole was slightly off.
- Attach the vertical rails to the TV while it’s on a padded surface. The included spacers made it easy to clear a slight bulge near the VESA holes.
- Have two strong people (three is better for 90–100” panels) lift and hook the TV onto the plate, then pull the cords to engage the safety latches.
From box opening to powered-on, I spent a little over an hour. Most of that time went to measuring, finding studs, and tidying cables; the bracket itself installs quickly.
Adjustability and day-to-day use
This is a tilt-only design, and it does that job well. The range—10° down, 5° up—is practical for managing reflections and optimizing viewing height when the panel sits higher on the wall. The tilt adjusters are hand-tightened, so I could dial in the angle without tools.
On very large screens, reaching the tilt knobs after the TV is hung can be tight. My workaround was to preset a slight downward tilt before lifting the panel into place, then make small corrections afterward. Once tightened, the tilt stays put and doesn’t drift when the TV is bumped.
The low-profile mount sits about 2.56 inches from the wall at minimum. That’s lean enough to look integrated, but not so tight that side-access ports are choked off. Tilting the TV up the available 5° makes it easier to reach HDMI/USB on the edge of the panel. If your wall outlet is directly behind the TV location, consider a recessed media box or a low-profile plug; the clearance is decent, but chunky power bricks will crowd the space.
The horizontal fine-tuning—just a degree either way—seems minor on paper but is invaluable. It let me square the screen to the room after everything was locked in, rather than re-opening the lag bolts.
Compatibility and limits
The VESA support (up to 800x600 mm) covers the majority of big screens on the market, including many 98–100 inch models. My panel’s 600x400 pattern fell well within spec. If you’re at the 120-inch end—or using a commercial display with an unusual pattern—measure carefully. The weight rating is 200 lb, which is plenty for modern consumer TVs. I would treat that number as a hard limit even though the company claims much higher lab test loads; your wall, fasteners, and installation quality matter as much as the bracket.
The mount accommodates 16, 18, and 24-inch studs out of the box, a real advantage in newer construction where 24-inch spacing is common. Concrete or brick installs are possible only with appropriate anchors rated for the load; I stuck to wood studs.
Living with it
Once installed, the mount essentially disappears—a good thing. There’s no creaking, no bounce when you press lightly on the frame, and no visible hardware from normal viewpoints. The pull cords for the locks are long enough to reach comfortably; I tucked them behind the bezel after release to keep them out of sight, then pulled them down again only when I needed to remove the TV for cable changes.
Because this is a tilting mount, you’re not getting swivel or extension. If you need to aim the TV toward multiple seating positions or service rear ports routinely, a full-motion arm is the better tool. For a single seating zone where the priority is a clean look and rock-solid support, the 9801 is the right fit.
What could be better
- Access to tilt knobs on giant panels: On 90–100 inch screens, the knobs sit close to the wall and can be hard to reach. Pre-setting tilt helps. Longer, more ergonomic knobs would make mid-install tweaks easier.
- Clearance versus outlets: The low profile looks great but can clash with standard, non-recessed outlets behind the set. Plan for a recessed box or low-profile plug if your outlet isn’t offset.
- No lateral swivel or extension: Expected in this category, but worth calling out. Make sure tilt-only suits your viewing needs.
Safety notes
Two reminders that bear repeating with displays of this size:
- Always mount into studs, not drywall. Use the included lag bolts and follow the torque guidance closely; over-tightening can compromise hold just as much as under-tightening.
- Lift with enough hands, and protect the screen edges. These panels are unwieldy more than they are dense; the mount will hold it, but you need to get it there safely.
Value
For a bracket that spans 24-inch studs, supports VESA to 800x600, and genuinely holds very large screens without flex, the Home Vision 9801 delivers strong value. It doesn’t carry the premium price that some big-brand mounts do, yet it matches them where it counts: rigidity, safety latching, adjustment range, and straightforward installation.
Recommendation
I recommend the Home Vision 9801 for anyone mounting a very large TV who wants a low-profile, tilt-only solution that prioritizes strength and simplicity. It handled a 98-inch, ~140 lb panel on 24-inch studs with confidence, offered just enough adjustability to perfect the install, and disappeared visually once the TV was up. If you need swivel or frequent behind-the-TV access, look to a full-motion mount instead. Otherwise, this is a reliable, well-built bracket that makes big-screen installs feel routine.
