Taefaba 15 Pieces Airless Paint Sprayer Tips Set, 6 Reversible Spray Nozzle Tips, 6 Airless Paint Spray Gun Filter,1 Inlet Strainer and 2Pcs Nozzle Tip Guards for Spraying Machine Parts Review

4.6 out of 5

A drawer full of spray tips saves jobs. I picked up the Taefaba tip kit to round out the sizes I keep on hand for an airless sprayer, and after a few weeks of repainting trim, rolling out a living room in acrylic latex, and spraying stain on fencing, I’ve got a clear sense of where this budget-friendly set hits—and where it compromises.

What’s in the box

The kit includes:
- 6 reversible airless tips: 109, 211, 315, 417, 517, 623
- 2 tip guards
- 6 gun filters (coarse mesh)
- 1 inlet strainer

The tips have polypropylene bodies with tungsten-carbide orifices, the standard recipe for longevity in airless tips. Each tip is clearly numbered and uses the familiar twist-to-unclog design. The guards are the conventional 7/8-inch thread pattern used by many mainstream sprayers. Packaging is utilitarian; there’s no fancy case, but everything arrived organized and easy to identify.

Compatibility and setup

On my Graco Magnum X7 and a generic off-brand pump with a standard 7/8-inch guard mount, the tips and guards fit without drama and sealed well. The tips seat positively in the guard, the indexing arrow is clear, and the reversing action has a crisp detent. I didn’t need any tools to install—snap the seal into the guard, slide in the tip, twist to lock, and go.

Two caveats:
- The included gun filters did not fit the wand on my Graco gun; they were shorter and slightly different in diameter. They did, however, fit an aftermarket gun I keep as a backup. If you’re banking on the filters, check your gun’s model and dimensions.
- The inlet strainer is a generic style and fit my siphon hose on the off-brand pump, but I stuck with the OEM strainer on the Graco.

If you’re unsure, treat the filters and strainer as useful extras rather than guaranteed matches.

In use: spray quality and pattern

A tip set lives or dies on spray quality, and the Taefaba tips ran surprisingly close to my go-to OEM tips in pattern consistency. Atomization with the 517 and 417 on interior acrylic wall paint was even, with a clean-edged fan and minimal tailing once pressure was dialed in. I measured fan widths against the markings at a standard 12-inch distance and they tracked as expected.

The reverse-unclog feature worked as it should. On a fence stain job, a bit of debris made its way through even after straining; a flip, trigger, and flip back cleared the obstruction without breaking stride. To be clear, reversing isn’t a substitute for proper filtration, but it’s nice not to stop and disassemble for every hiccup.

Where you can run into trouble is trying to push thicker coatings through the smallest sizes:
- 109 and 211: Great for trim enamels that are formulated for spraying, waterborne lacquers, clear coats, and thin stains. With thicker latex, these will struggle, sputter, or force you to over-pressurize.
- 315: Sweet spot for doors, cabinets, and narrow sections with most water-based paints if you keep viscosity in check.
- 417/517: Bread and butter for walls and exterior acrylics. The 517 handled eggshell interior latex with a uniform fan and little overspray once I set the pressure just high enough to eliminate tails.
- 623: A workhorse for fences and exterior siding with heavier coatings. Good coverage and productivity, but be mindful of overspray in windy conditions.

If you’re new to tip sizing, remember the simple rule: the first digit x 2 ≈ fan width (inches) at 12 inches from the surface; the last two digits are the orifice size in thousandths of an inch. Match the orifice to the coating’s viscosity and the fan width to the task.

Filters and strainer: a mixed bag

I like having spare gun filters, and the included mesh did a decent job catching debris when used in the compatible gun. For heavier paints, I prefer a coarser mesh than what’s included; for thin stain, this mesh is fine. Because compatibility is hit-or-miss, I still recommend straining paint through a cone filter and using the correct OEM gun filter for your specific model if you have the option.

The inlet strainer is serviceable and a good backup. It’s not as robust as the OEM unit on my Graco, but it flowed well and didn’t collapse or cavitate the pump.

Build quality and durability

The tip bodies feel slightly lighter than some premium OEM tips, but the carbide orifices—the wear point that matters—appear well-centered and finished. Edges of the fan were consistent across all six sizes I tested. After several gallons through the 517 and 417, I didn’t see a noticeable degradation in pattern or an increase in flow that would indicate premature wear.

The guards are sturdy enough, and threads engage cleanly. The seals seated without leaks. As with any budget tip, I’ll keep an eye on longevity over a full season, but nothing in early use suggests a short life.

Performance notes and best practices

  • Set pressure just high enough to eliminate tails. Pushing pressure to force thick paint through a small tip will balloon overspray and accelerate wear.
  • Use the 109/211 only with appropriately thin coatings or after thinning within the manufacturer’s limits.
  • Strain your paint. The reversible feature is great for small bits, not drywall dust and dried chunks from a five-gallon that sat open.
  • Replace tip seals periodically. A leaky seal masquerades as a bad tip.
  • Keep a cleaning routine: purge with water between breaks on water-based jobs, and clear the tip in reverse before storage.

Value

Price is where the Taefaba tip kit separates itself. For roughly the cost of one or two branded tips, you get six sizes that cover most household and light pro use, plus two guards and filtration odds and ends. If you spray occasionally or are building out a kit for a renovation, this is compelling. Pros burning through tips weekly may still prefer to stick with a single brand they know will last the longest and pair perfectly with their guns, but for the majority of homeowners and part-time finishers, the performance-to-price ratio is excellent.

Who it’s for

  • Homeowners tackling interior walls, trim, furniture, fences, and sheds.
  • DIYers who need a small spread of sizes without spending heavily on individual OEM tips.
  • Light-duty pros who want backup sizes and guards in the van.
  • Anyone with a standard 7/8-inch guard mount on their sprayer.

Less ideal for:
- Crews spraying high-solids coatings daily, where tip longevity and exacting fan geometry are mission-critical.
- Users relying on the included gun filters to fit specific guns without checking compatibility.

The bottom line

The Taefaba tip kit earns a spot in my sprayer bag. The tips deliver clean, predictable patterns across common sizes, the reversing action unclogs quickly, and the guards fit and seal as they should. Compatibility of the included filters is the only real question mark, and the smallest tips understandably struggle with thicker paints—issues that are easy to manage with proper sizing and workflow.

Recommendation: I recommend this kit for homeowners and light-duty users who want a cost-effective spread of reversible tips with solid performance. You’ll cover most painting scenarios without piecemealing expensive singles, and the spray quality is close enough to premium brands that, for occasional use, you won’t miss a beat.
