LHBcraft Outdoor Storage Cabinet 36 Cu Ft with Lockable Doors, Portable Horizontal Resin Storage Shed -Easy to Assemble, Waterproof Outdoor Storage Box for Backyards,Patios Black Review

4.4 out of 5

Why I chose a low-profile resin cabinet

I needed a weatherproof spot to corral the usual backyard suspects—garden tools, pool gear, cushions—without committing to a full shed or eating up sightlines. A horizontal unit made more sense than a tall cabinet, and the LHBcraft outdoor cabinet looked like the right blend of footprint, capacity, and weather resistance. After several weeks of use on a small patio and beside a pool area, I have a solid read on where it shines and where you should set expectations.

Setup and assembly

Out of the box, this is a straightforward, one-person build if you’re patient and have a level surface to work on. I spent about 45 minutes from unboxing to a functioning cabinet, with most of that time spent ensuring panels were fully seated in their channels. The pieces are clearly molded and keyed; the instructions rely on diagrams but are easy to follow.

A few tips from my build:
- Work on a flat, hard surface. Resin panels depend on a square base to align properly; an uneven deck will fight you later with door alignment.
- A rubber mallet helps to fully seat the double-wall panels without scuffing them.
- Don’t overtighten fasteners into resin. Snug is enough; overdoing it can strip the plastic.

All of the hardware and tools you need come in the box. I did the build solo, but an extra set of hands would make installing the lid and aligning the doors a bit faster.

Size and layout

At 51.1 × 29.1 × 43.3 inches (36 cubic feet), the cabinet hits a sweet spot for smaller patios and side yards. It’s short enough to sit under a window or along a fence line, but deep and wide enough to be genuinely useful.

What I fit comfortably:
- A stack of outdoor cushions and two throws
- Pool noodles, skimmer, and a tote of pool chemicals (with room to spare)
- Long-handled garden tools (rakes and hoes fit diagonally)
- Two medium storage totes plus a bag of potting soil

The low, horizontal form also makes it a decent hideaway for bins. If you’re using it as a bin station, measure your containers first; medium-sized trash/recycling bins fit, but oversized cans are a squeeze.

There’s a provision to add a shelf (48 × 13 inches; sold separately). If you want vertical organization for small tools or chemicals, plan on buying the shelf or cutting a board to spec. Without it, the space works best for larger items and totes.

Materials and weather performance

Panels are double-wall, blow-molded high-density polyethylene. That’s the same construction used by many of the better resin sheds, and it matters: the walls feel stiffer and more impact-resistant than thin single-wall plastic. The lid has a slight crown to shed water, and there’s enough overlap at the seams to keep wind-driven rain out when the cabinet is properly assembled.

I hose-tested the cabinet and left it out through a couple of heavy storms. Everything inside stayed dry. The key factors are:
- Keep it level so the doors and lid seal evenly.
- Don’t block the lid’s closing path with overstuffed contents; resin lids don’t pull themselves shut like a fridge door.

UV exposure can fade cheaper plastics; after a few weeks of full sun, the black finish still looks rich with no chalking or warping. Black does show dust and pollen more readily than tan/gray, and it will run a few degrees warmer in summer.

Access and usability

This is where the LHBcraft design stands out for a cabinet at this price.

  • Dual access: Front double doors plus a top lid. The lid is lever-supported, so it stays open hands-free while you stash or pull items. It’s especially handy if you’re using the unit for bins or frequently accessed tools.
  • Foot-operated bottom latch: You can secure the doors without crouching, which sounds minor until you’ve got an armful of cushions.
  • Dual locking points: A pre-drilled lock hole at the lid/door junction and the bottom foot latch give you two points of lockable closure. It’s not high-security—this is resin, not steel—but it deters casual snooping and keeps doors from blowing open in a storm.

Door swing is wide and smooth when the base is level. If the doors feel “sticky” or look misaligned, recheck that the floor panel is fully supported at all corners.

Build quality and stability

Overall stiffness is good for a resin cabinet. The side walls and doors resist flex, and the lid doesn’t oilcan under normal use. The integrated floor panel helps distribute load, but this is still plastic: keep the heaviest items low and centered. I loaded a 40-pound soil bag and a couple of dense tool totes on the bottom; no bowing or sagging.

One nuance: the back panel has more give than the sides. It’s still a double-wall resin piece, but it isn’t as rigid, so proper assembly (and a flat base) does most of the work to keep the cabinet square. If you plan to push the capacity, take the extra minute to ensure the walls are fully interlocked during assembly.

Wind stability is decent thanks to the low profile. There aren’t dedicated anchor points, so if you’re in a very gusty area, placing it on pavers and adding weight to the bottom shelf is a simple way to add peace of mind.

Looks and finish

The black, slightly textured panels look modern and clean. The cabinet reads more “outdoor furniture” than “utility bin,” which helps it blend on a patio. Seams and corners are neat. The surface resists scuffs better than I expected; a quick wipe-down takes care of dust or pollen.

Small nitpicks: black shows fingerprints, and the lid’s inside surface can pick up smears from sunscreened hands—easy to clean, but you’ll notice them.

What could be better

No product is perfect. Here’s what I’d want improved in a future revision:
- Shelf included: The cabinet is far more versatile with a single mid-height shelf. Making it standard would save buyers the extra step.
- Lock compatibility: The top lock hole accepts small to medium padlocks. If you prefer beefier shackle locks, check dimensions before buying.
- Back-panel rigidity: It works as-is when assembled properly, but a bit more structure would inspire even more confidence for heavier loads or frequent moves.

These are refinements rather than deal-breakers, but they’re worth knowing before you buy.

Who it’s for

  • Small patios, decks, and pool areas where a low horizontal footprint is key
  • Homeowners who want quick, top access for bins or frequently used tools
  • Anyone needing weatherproof storage for cushions, garden gear, and pool supplies without committing to a full shed

Who should look elsewhere:
- If you need true theft resistance, a metal cabinet with hasp-and-staple hardware is a better bet.
- If your storage is mostly very tall items (string trimmers, long ladders), a vertical shed will fit better.

The bottom line

The LHBcraft outdoor cabinet balances capacity, weather resistance, and ease of use in a compact, good-looking package. Assembly is painless, the dual-access design is genuinely useful, and the double-wall resin feels sturdier than many budget alternatives. With a level base and sensible loading, it stays square, dry, and easy to operate.

Recommendation: I recommend this cabinet for most small-to-medium outdoor storage needs. It’s a practical, low-profile solution that keeps gear dry and accessible without overwhelming a space. Add the optional shelf for better organization, place it on a solid, level surface, and it should serve you well for seasons to come.

Creative

Mini Greenhouse / Seed-Starting Station

Turn the waterproof resin cabinet into a compact greenhouse by installing clear acrylic or polycarbonate panels on the top and one side (or adding a clear hinged lid). Add 2–3 removable shelves sized to 48×13 in. for seed trays, a small grow light strip, and adjustable ventilation slots. The cabinet's weather resistance and lockable design keep seedlings safe from animals and rain, while the lever-supported flap makes quick access easy.

Potting Bench + Garden Tool Hub

Convert the cabinet into a self-contained potting bench: flip or replace the top with a treated wood work surface (or add a removable cutting board insert) and install an optional laminate shelf inside for soil bags and pots. Attach hooks on the exterior for trowels, hoses, and gloves and use the foot-operated latch and lock holes to keep fertilizers and chemicals secure and dry.

Poolside Bar / Beverage Cooler

Use the cabinet as a portable bar or cooler for gatherings. Line the interior with food-safe insulating foam or a removable waterproof bin, add a drain plug for melted ice, and install bottle racks or a keg shelf. The double-lock option secures alcohol or supplies when unattended, and the low horizontal profile works well as a drink station or serving surface.

Toy & Towel Station with Drying Rack

Organize pool toys, floats, and wet towels by adding mesh baskets and a removable slatted shelf for drainage. Install a fold-out drying rod on the inside of the lid or side-mounted pegs for hanging towels. The cabinet’s waterproofing prevents mildew, and the lever-supported flap/foot latch makes access easy when hands are wet.

Outdoor Bench with Hidden Storage

Reinforce the top to create a cushioned bench seat for patios. Add weatherproof foam cushion and a decorative cover; keep cushions, blankets, or seasonal gear inside. Use the pre-drilled lock holes for security, stencil or vinyl-wrap the black resin for a custom look, and optionally add planter boxes on the sides for integrated greenery.
