A hybrid that actually earns its spot in the closet

I picked up the Joybos silicone squeegee broom to see if a single tool could handle the unglamorous bits of daily cleanup—pet hair tumbleweeds, sandy entryways, bathroom drips, and the occasional garage puddle. After a few weeks of swapping it in for my regular broom, rubber broom, and shower squeegee, I’ve found it genuinely useful—especially for dry sweeping and post-shower or garage water control—while still very much not a mop replacement.

Design, setup, and build

Assembly took a few minutes. The pole arrives in segments that thread together, letting you choose a length from a short handheld 18 inches up to a long 62 inches. I appreciate this modular approach: short for mirrors or car windows, mid-length for stairs and countertops, full length for floors and tall windows. The pole is lightweight and, once snugged down properly, doesn’t flex much in normal use. I did find I had to re-tighten a section once after some vigorous garage work, so give the joints an extra twist during setup.

The head is an approximately 16-inch silicone blade mounted on a swiveling joint that rotates 180 degrees. There are no bristles to trap hair or grime—just a single silicone edge that can be rinsed clean under the tap. The straight profile of the blade is a double-edged sword (more on that in performance), but the overall construction feels purpose-built for both pushing and pulling debris and liquid across smooth surfaces.

Ergonomics and reach

The rotating head is the standout here. Being able to flatten the tool to get under a 2-inch gap (under sofas or bed frames) is handy, and the long reach means I don’t have to stoop. That said, when the head is fully flattened under low furniture, the contact angle isn’t always ideal for picking up fine dust on the first pass. I got better results by slightly tilting the pole or pulling rather than pushing in those tight spaces.

For vertical surfaces, like glass and shower walls, the lightweight pole plus a swiveling head is a good combination. The blade tracks reasonably straight and doesn’t chatter. On large windows, the longer reach is especially useful.

Dry performance on hard floors and rugs

On smooth floors—sealed tile, laminate, hardwood—the Joybos squeegee broom excels at gathering fine debris. Pet hair and human hair are where it shines. The silicone edge corrals strands that ordinary bristles flick into the air, so I spend less time chasing hair back and forth. Sand and fine dust collect into neat lines with fewer passes than a standard broom, and because there are no bristles, there’s little aerosolized dust. Allergy sufferers will appreciate that.

Along baseboards and in corners, the blade tracks close enough that I can pull debris into a pile for a dustpan or vacuum pickup. On low-pile rugs and doormats, dragging the blade “against the nap” lifts embedded hair that a vacuum often leaves behind. It won’t deep-clean plush carpet, but for quick hair removal on flat-weave rugs, it’s fast and surprisingly thorough.

One quirk: on very uneven floors or tile with deep grout lines, a rigid straight blade can skip shallow spots. Shorter strokes with a steeper angle fixed this for me, but if your floors are heavily textured, expect to do a second pass.

Wet work: spills, showers, windows, and the garage

As a squeegee, the tool works well when used correctly. Pulling water toward me on smooth tile leaves a dry path, making quick work of post-shower glass and floor squeegeeing. Bathroom mirrors and windows clean up streak-free once the surface is soapy; you’ll still want a microfiber towel for edges, which is normal for any squeegee.

In the garage, it’s effective at moving standing water after washing the car or a rain-soaked entry. The long reach and wide blade clear large patches quickly. For small to moderate puddles, it’s excellent.

Where it becomes less comfortable is treating it like a mop. If I spray cleaner directly on a dirty floor and try to scrub with the silicone edge, I can end up smearing dirty water rather than lifting it. The straight blade can also feel “draggy” if you try to push larger volumes of water. Two adjustments helped:
- Pull rather than push when there’s a lot of liquid.
- Keep the blade at a slight angle and use overlapping passes.

Used as a post-mop finisher—to gather rinse water or speed drying—it’s great. Used as a mop substitute, it’s underwhelming. Think “squeegee first, mop second,” not the other way around.

Cleanup, maintenance, and durability

Maintenance is the easy win. Hair, litter crumbs, and muddy residue rinse clean in seconds. No bristles to detangle, no gunk trapped in a brush head. The silicone doesn’t hold odors, and there’s no fabric to launder. After a gritty garage session, I took the head to the sink and it looked new after a quick rinse.

Durability-wise, the blade has kept its edge and hasn’t nicked despite occasional encounters with small gravel. Silicone can deform if stored with pressure on the edge, so I avoid leaning it with the blade bent; I store it upright. The pole sections are light. They’ve stayed aligned for me, but as noted earlier, give them a firm twist to keep them tight over time.

Where it excels and where it falls short

Strengths:
- Hair and fine dust on smooth floors
- Quick water removal on tile, glass, and in the garage
- Low-maintenance head that rinses completely clean
- Excellent reach with the adjustable pole and rotating head
- Useful on low-pile rugs for pet hair

Limitations:
- Not a substitute for a mop; can smear dirty water if used as one
- A straight blade can drag when pushing lots of liquid—pulling works better
- On deep texture or uneven floors, you may need extra passes
- Under very low furniture, the contact angle isn’t always perfect for fine dust

Value and use cases

As a secondary tool, the Joybos squeegee broom pulls more than its weight. It has replaced three separate tasks for me: a rubber broom for hair, a shower squeegee for glass, and a garage squeegee for puddles. If you live with pets, it’s arguably a first-line tool for daily hair control. If you’re after a primary wet-cleaning solution for floors, you’ll still want a good mop; use this to corral water, not scrub soil.

Households with mixed surfaces—tile bathrooms, hardwood living areas, and a patio or garage—will get the most from it. In small apartments, the adjustable pole helps it moonlight as a window squeegee and a compact broom without taking up much storage space.

Tips to get the best results

  • Use short, angled pulls for water; avoid pushing large puddles.
  • On hair, pull in long strokes and lift at the end to keep the pile intact for pickup.
  • For uneven tile, use slightly steeper blade angles and shorter passes.
  • Tighten the pole sections firmly during assembly; recheck after heavy use.
  • Rinse the blade after gritty jobs to preserve the edge.

Final verdict

I recommend the Joybos silicone squeegee broom as a versatile, low-maintenance companion to your existing mop and vacuum. It’s particularly strong for pet hair and fine dust on smooth floors, quick water removal on glass and tile, and general garage and patio cleanup. Its adjustable reach and rotating head make it genuinely flexible, and the silicone blade’s rinse-and-go maintenance is a time saver.

I wouldn’t buy it to replace a mop or to deep-clean textured floors, and the straight blade requires a bit of technique with larger spills. But as an everyday problem-solver for hair, dust, and water, it earns a spot in my cleaning toolkit.

Squeegee Abstract Murals

Use the 16" silicone blade and long adjustable handle to create large-scale squeegee paintings on canvas, plywood or exterior walls. Drag layers of thinned acrylic or latex paint for dramatic streaks and textures; the 180° rotating head makes it easy to vary pressure and angle for different effects.
